Re: Lutheranism?

I can see that Steve. Yes Augustine came from a gnostic sect that believed in determinism, but the early writings I have read of Augustine he sounded like any of the other church fathers before him, he believed in man's free will. Later he hardened his stance on predestination, even "recanting" his ...

Lutheranism?

I'm pretty interested in all the different denominations and their beliefs and the differences between them all. It might just be me, but Lutheranism is very confusing. Lutheranism sounds alot like Calvinism in terms of predestination and depravity and alot like evangelicalism in terms of salvation ...

Re: Justice Never Served?

Thanks for the reply Steve. I see your point. I never had a problem with the idea of Hades being thrown into the lake of fire, I always saw that as describing those in Hades awaiting judgment being thrown in, not the literal place Hades. Death I guess would be a little more difficult to be understoo...

Justice Never Served?

I've heard Steve present an argument that if people are paying for their sins in hell forever and can never pay them off, then justice is never truly served. On a logical level, I can certainly see validity to that argument. However, as best I can tell from Revelation 20:10, the devil, the false pro...

Re: Does Peter present a problem for corporate election view?

Steve, have you ever considered writing a book based on your teachings on Calvinism? It seems like for the most part Calvinism has all the heavy-hitting "intellectuals" in this debate and you have about the best teachings on this subject from the non-Calvinist perspective that I know of!

Re: Does Peter present a problem for corporate election view?

Somehow I missed the possibility of this referrring to his audience and not himself. Now I feel silly. :) Thanks everyone for the insight!

Re: Does Peter present a problem for corporate election view?

I would think so, but I just wanted to make sure that the "according to the foreknowledge" part didn't present a challenge to that.

Does Peter present a problem for corporate election view?

I am not a Calvinist nor an Arminian, I hold to the corporate election view thanks for the wonderful teaching of Steve Gregg on this subject. Usually when I discuss this with Calvinists, I point out how when Paul talks about election and being chosen/predestined it's always "in Christ" and "we" not ...

Re: My son's story

You're welcome Steve! The last MRI he had revealed that the cyst has gotten significantly smaller, which is yet another great blessing. His bloodwork has been continually fine (he had some hormone issues at first due to the cyst), his vision is great, and although he was experiencing a slight limp w...
