Re: The 144,000

I would like to add a little about my background - I have a similar background story to Steve - I have spent alot of time in dispensationalist Baptist churches. I don't like the label dispensationalist for myself because there are aspects I don't agree with, but if I had to label myself I guess I wo...

Re: The 144,000

I know this topic is part of a much bigger discussion of Israel/the Church and how prophecy is interpreted, but I would like to weigh in on this specific topic. "It seems to me all right thinking Believers should think of themselves as sons of Abraham, as decendents of Israel." - Some think this way...

Re: To Affiliate or Not to Affiliate?

The biggest danger I find in the sinner's prayer is that many pastors are usurping the place only Christ deserves between God and men. Perhaps they don't realize that they are actually mediating between God and other people. 1 Tim 2:5 I knew an evangelist in Boston who, instead of leading someone i...

Re: To Affiliate or Not to Affiliate?

I agree about the sinner's prayer in Luke 18. However, that prayer seemed to be spontaneous, heartfelt and un-coached. I think the problem comes in when we teach people to say such words, and then tell them they have thereby gotten themselves saved. Jesus did not give this parable in order to teach...

Re: To Affiliate or Not to Affiliate?

Hi Rich, There are alot of things to address, and I think you are wise to at least seriously weigh the options and pray about it. I don't think there's any inherent danger in uniting with an institutional church as long as the organization understands that it is simply part of THE church. No church ...

Re: Churches in NYC?

Thanks I will look into them! I'm looking for a church that I can recommend to my brother who lives up there. He is what I would call a nominal Christian (he claims to be born again). He attended a Methodist church there for awhile before joining a Baptist church. He eventually stopped going because...

Churches in NYC?

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good churches in NYC. I know there are tons of them, but I wanted to know if anyone knew of any ones they could recommend personally. Thanks.

Re: Dispensationalism/Millennialism debates?

Thanks Steve. I was just curious. I enjoy your program and your debates. I am a premillenialist and although I don't necessarily label myself as "dispensationalist" it probably most closely describes my approach to the Bible, but I am certainly open to the amillenialist viewpoint. I will be sure to ...

Dispensationalism/Millennialism debates?

Does anyone know if Steve has ever debated anyone on Dispensationalism and/or Millennialism and if so is it available somewhere? Thanks!
