Re: "Lordship Salvation"

In no way do I believe that if we fall into sin, we immediately lose out. Nor do I believe that we must achieve a certain number of good works in order to be saved. However, I do believe that we must generally persevere in our submission to Christ. (Rom 2:6-11) We will lose out only if we undo what...

"Lordship Salvation"

The term "Lordship Salvation" is so misleading to many. It is often construed as meaning one's salvation is based on how well they conduct themselves. I like the term "Lordship Discipleship" better. Once you're saved, your life should be about being a disciple of your Lord Jesus Christ. That should ...

The Islam & Catholic Connection?

The claim is that basically for political reasons the Vatican created Islam or at least greatly facilitated it. So far I've only seen this claim presented by a Chick tract and a Seventh Day Adventist "Amazing Facts" presentation on YouTube. I know both Chick and the SDA are ultra anti Catholicism. S...

Mt. 7:21-23 "Not all who say Lord, Lord".

Mt. 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?" 23 And the...

Though you were the author of the selection that I responded to, you are not the only audience in this forum.
I'm happy to have provided you with a platform. Could be the most useful thing I do here

Re: “Genuine repentance”

Hi Steve, My take on "Lordship Salvation" was motivated out of bias. It was a "movement" that hit close to home church back around 1980. And it did, as you say, give rise to accusations of legalism and even did actually give rise to legalism in some circles, which is why it would leave a "bad taste"...

Re: “Genuine repentance”

 When we consider the theological significance of “Lordship,” it is important to give due consideration to worldview.... Part of what makes the original Python sketch humorous is the quandary that Arthur finds himself in when he is faced with anachronistic political theory. A “lordship” mode...

Re: “Genuine repentance”

I don't know why people gravitate to one or the other of those extremes. It's really very simple. God has declared that Jesus is Lord. People deal with that fact in any way they choose. I think teachers and pastors gravitate to those extremes because they want to impose their personal criteria and ...
