God has a Determinate Will

Post by _Jude » Fri May 14, 2004 7:31 pm

God has a determinate will.

He decrees.

Psalm 2:7-8 (ESV)
I will tell of the decree:
The Lord said to me, "You are my Son;
today I have begotten you.
[8] Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession.

He determines.

Luke 22:22 (ESV)
For the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!"

His holy counsel and purpose is from before time.

Isaiah 46:10 (ESV)
declaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, 'My counsel shall stand,
and I will accomplish all my purpose,'

His determinate slavific purpose is fatherly and gracious.

Matthew 11:25-26 (ESV)
At that time Jesus declared, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; [26] yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.

His fatherly and sovereign will is according to His own good pleasure.

Luke 12:32 (ESV)
"Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Reason:
Romans 8:29 (ESV)
For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Jude, I'am not sure what you are trying to do. You start threads then fail to interact with those who respond. What's up?
