The Basis of History

Post by _Jude » Mon May 10, 2004 4:13 pm

Some say God predestined people to salvation based on the forseen faith of those to believe. This means God’s eternal decree to predestine some was informed by something that was yet to come in time. Did God’s eternal purpose become what it was, based on what men would do in time. Or, is what men would do in time, based on God’s eternal purpose.

Acts 15:18 (KJV)
Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

Ephes. 1:11 (ESV)
... who works all things according to the counsel of his will.

Scripture teaches God’s works in time are designed by God's counsel in eternity.

Reason:
Romans 8:29 (ESV)
For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

I don't see the problem. That God's choice from the beginning of the world was to save those who believed in Jesus.
