Fasting Testimonies

I was wondering if any here would be willing to share their experiences/thoughts regarding fasting. I know that we are not supposed to "advertise" our fasting, but I am interested in how some of you may have fasted in the past, how it affected your spiritual life, etc.

I felt that God wanted me to fast for some people in a certain nation this morning, and it turned out that the nation that they are in had been bombed yesterday and I think today as well. I had no idea about it, but my wife told me some time after the decision to fast, and she still has no idea that I fasted. I do not like to fast-just to be honest-but this time I did not have much of a struggle with it.
