The preacher was imprisoned for violating a law that prohibited holding unauthorized religious services. During his confinement, the non-conformist preacher wrote a novel that was published in 1678. It has never been out of print since, and some experts say that only the Bible has been read by more people than John Bunyan's prison-penned masterpiece, Pilgrim's Progress.
But what were Bunyan's religious beliefs? What are the theological underpinnings of Pilgrim's Progress? That was the question posed by a caller to The Narrow Path radio program, hosted by Steve Gregg, who describes Pilgrim's Progress as "absolute gold." Eureka!
