No, I have read that article (when it originally came out a couple years ago).

But my post was prompted by her response to the Planned Parenthood stuff on Twitter and the sheer volume of people that favorited and retweeted those tweets. It is my observation that many (Certainly not all) progressive Christians were quick to defend the PP organization (in its whole, at least), but they seem to assume the worst about pro-life ministries whenever possible (as in, pro-life ministries push for birth, but then abandon the woman and child).

I often sit in a Church group of 300 or so people and wonder how it is that roughly half agree that killing a baby is a much better choice than punishing a young woman by charging her with raising a child.

Kill the baby. There is no other term for it.

Planned Parenthood was never that. It should be labeled as a baby killing service for hire, funded by the government and morons.

If you vote for, or support a "progressive" candidate, then it is on you.

I actually created a Twitter list for myself that contains only non-political/non-negative twitter users. So I haven't seen much that she writes these days. She is "my people," along with Nadia Bolz-Weber and others. But "my people," can sometimes get overwhelming by how much they say. And even when I agree on certain issues, having them brought up all the time gets tiring. It's remarkable how much lighter I feel when I'm not regularly exposed to political/religious opinions of people I agree with. I honestly don't know how American civilization is going to withstand the next presidential election. Issues aside. The tone has become so hostile. This opinionated guy has decided he basically needs to shut up this election. Because everything is so divisive, my testimony is not worth the distraction.

This may be somewhat off-topic ...

It reminds me of a book that I listened to recently, Interrupted, which says some things that I'd been thinking myself about what might be called "post-modernism". The upshot is that Christianity is very well suited (if you will) for a post-modern mindset. If there is any overlap between "progressives" and "post-modernists", then it's possible that the Christian religion and more importantly, the gospel, should be attractive to them.

But it may be that the two don't overlap, and post-modernism may have given way to a more totalitarian, my-way-or-the-highway mentality. I'm not sure.
