Old Testament allusions in the book of Revelation

Post by _Tim » Tue Dec 07, 2004 8:21 pm

We always read there are 278 allusions to the Old Testament in the book of Revelation. Does anyone know where ALL of these have been chronicled? Web site or book perhaps? Eager to find the listing.

Sorry about putting this in the wrong category. Mental blunder.
Forgive.

My evaluation is that 1) this post was predestined to appear in this category and that 2) regardless of where the discussion turns it will remain in this category.

I found several of the allusions simply by looking at the footnotes in my NASB (all direct or at least close OT quotes are in all upper-case type and have a footnoted reference) and by checking the cross references of my study Bible. I have not, however, found a comprehensive listing of these.

Blessings,

Thanks Larry for your response.

The small caps to represent an OT quotation is a nice feature of the NASB
and very helpful at times. A complete list of the OT allusions would be helpful for lots of reasons, though the 278 that I mentioned in my initial post may or may not be accurate. It could obviously differ based on the validity of the interpreters ability to link a a passage accurately back to the OT.
