Re: Recent thoughts on Job...
Hello Steve :) I have no problem with the 'allowed' language. I just think God's allowance was built into creation... not so much on a case by case basis. I also agree with you that there are times when God intervenes to stop Satan from doing things (as with the Luke passage you mentioned). I guess ...

Recent thoughts on Job...
I've been struggling a bit with the book of Job (one of my favorite books) Up until recently, I believed that Job (the man) was a historical person and that Job (the story) was literally true I still believe the man was a historical person (though I don't see the point as particularly important) And...

Re: Preaching to Myself
Thanks Steve. I wrote this poem as we grieved We named you Noah We never got to meet you Until you were asleep Instead of tears of joy We used our tears to weep We are glad we got to hold you And see your hands and feet We’re so sorry that we could not hear The sound of your heartbeat We hope that y...

I just finished a 6 week sermon series where we offered critique to 18 different Christian Cliches The audio links can be found here https://www.lockportwesleyan.com/sermon-audio During the series, my wife and I lost our unborn baby. This seemed to impact the flavor of the series both before and aft...

Re: A question of clarification for our Open Theist friends
I was just reading an older book from Roger Olson titled "Questions to All Your Answers" On page 97 he says "But what if God has a blueprint for your life but somehow hides from himself whether or not you will live according to it? (A group of evangelicals called open theists believe God limits his ...

I also believe you've been representing open theism accurately.
I remember, a while back, I was reading something by Dallas Willard that made me think he might be taking the 'willful ignorance' view. But he was also reluctant to take the label 'open theist' as far as I know.

Re: Where Does it Fit?, or Was there Pottery on the Ark?
I don't disregard the date. I just don't take it as 100% fact. It seems to me a lot of their dating methods are based on presuppositions. I am genuinely open to multiple views (theistic evolution, old earth creationism & young earth creationism). I am a young earth creationist because I was persuade...
