Re: Christians and the Covid Vaccine
Here is some correspondence between an inquirer and myself on this subject, which I posted at my MeWe page: Does Christian love require being vaccinated? Dear Steve, I have tried to get an answer on my own, through prayer, bible study and talking to my husband, kids, and Christian friends. I haven't...

Re: How do you spell it?
Saviour is a very archaic spelling, no longer used in American English. It reflects a spelling convention still common in British English (Compare, e.,g., neighbour; labour; savour; succour).

Commonsense wrote: We know that God is not a man and humans are not God. Since Jesus was a man, He would not be God. Passages that suggest He is God must then mean something else. I am glad you put it this way, because it very succinctly represents the thinking of many biblical interpreters with who...

Re: Bill Schlegel Videos
More to the point of this thread, I have welcomed anyone to critically address the thesis presented in my lectures on the topic addressed here. I don't think they can be refuted from scripture, but I am willing to hear the arguments. To me, "This does not necessarily mean what it sounds like it is s...

Re: Bill Schlegel Videos
Perhaps it is a niggling point, but the Bible nowhere speaks of us putting on a "new self" (except in English translations that give little heed to the Greek of the texts where they so render). We have put on the New Man ( anthropos) , which is corporate Christ—the Body of which He is Head—which has...

Re: Begotten Before All Ages
The "today" of Psalm 2:7 is the day of Christ's resurrection from the dead, according to Acts 13:33: God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also writte n in the second Psalm: ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.’ It is interesting that, in all o...

I have to say that I am not among those who believe that an acceptance of the trinity doctrine is of primary importance for salvation or for walking with God acceptably. Nor do I know whether other trinitarians (I am one) neglect verses like those given above—or why they would do so. The trinity doc...

Re: What are your thoughts concerning universalism?
The idea I was referring to was the one you mentioned in your question : "Is there a scripture somewhere that informs us of after death repentance and salvation?"

Re: What are your thoughts concerning universalism?
Homer wrote: Surely the Universalist can point to scripture concerning this if it is true as they say. Or did Jesus just forget to mention it? Jesus hardly ever mentioned the matter of postmortem punishment—and when He did, His purpose was not to diminish its severity. What possible reason would Jes...

Re: What are your thoughts concerning universalism?
Everyone here seems to have an opinion about the meaning of aionios , and all are right—in different contexts. Most scholars seem to agree that the word can mean "age-during" or "lasting for an age (a very long period)." Most lexicons list "eternal" as a meaning, because some things that "last for a...
