Re: Curious...

You guys are all right. There is no point being here any more because of the following: As long as you continue to interpret the Bible using a 20th century Western cultural and scientific understanding to unmask ancient Eastern Hebrew idioms, metaphors, symbolism, and figures, you have zero chance t...

Re: Curious...

Michelle, I am glad that you do see the Scriptural time statements. Don't you think it is about time that you paid them some heed? When you said, " Again, I've never had someone say that there are embarrassing verses in the Bible. You, apparently have...unless you're just guessing? " it has become p...

Re: Curious...

Hi Mellontes, So, I guess eschatology is vitally important because the apostles spoke of it often. It's vitally important (because the apostles spoke of it often)...how? How does it shape your life? Well, for me, the Bible has opened up more than ever. What is the most important message that has be...

Re: Curious...

I've never heard of any other "isms" that believe the promises were not fulfilled in Christ... maybe there are some, but I don't know of any. It's been a while since I have conversed with you Mellontes, but I'm just wondering: Do you discuss anything other than full-preterism or things pertaining t...

Re: Curious...

I'm not a dispensationalist, but I don't believe the church is neccesarily the recipient of the promises to Isreal specifically. For instance, I do believe we are the recipient of the Abrahamic covenant because it was made to him and his seed, which Paul elaborates further as being Christ, not Isre...

Who here believes the church is not the recipient of the promises to OT Israel?

I understand dispensationalism believes this way but am not so sure about the other "isms"...

Re: Reconsidering the: "resurrection of the just and unjust"

The issue of dating is not as tied to theology as you would suggest. There have been many non-preterists (Isaac Newton and Francis Nigel Lee spring to mind, but this has also been the view of many scholars who are not preterist) who have held to an early date based upon the evidence. I am not a pre...

Re: When did John write revelation?

Although many would say the following is an argument from silence (and technically they would be correct), but understanding the vast amount of Scripture regarding the tabernacle, Solomon's temple, and Herod's temple, it would seem utterly UNREASONABLE for the worst Jewish tragedy of all time to NOT...

Re: Reconsidering the: "resurrection of the just and unjust"

There is a thread concerning the Great White Throne Judgment here: http://deathisdefeated.ning.com/forum/topics/the-great-white-throne?xg_source=activity I am not too sure what all the topics are but I would imagine that the resurrection and its nuances are being mentioned. (I have just read a few o...
